Choosing a used silent or acoustic generator

An acoustic canopy brings the generator, cooling system and sound-reducing enclosure into one package. This selection includes units described in their individual listings as silent, super silent, acoustic or canopied. Start with the required output, then compare the actual enclosure and equipment fitted to each set.

Noise descriptions are not interchangeable test results. If you have a noise limit, ask for the sound level, measurement distance, operating load and test conditions for the specific generator. Position, nearby buildings and the installation can also affect what is heard at your site.

Before ordering, check canopy doors, panel condition, service access, radiator airflow and exhaust arrangements. Ask whether the quoted package includes the fuel tank, controller, breaker and any sockets you need. A canopy does not by itself confirm that a unit has rental sockets, automatic changeover or an external fuel connection.
