Why used generator prices vary
A used generator is an individual piece of equipment. Two sets with the same advertised kVA can have different engines, duty ratings, years, hours, enclosures and preparation requirements. Compare the actual machines and the written scope of supply before deciding which quotation offers the best value for your project.

Output, specification and configuration
Begin with the required output and duty. A larger standby figure is not a substitute for a suitable prime rating. Check voltage, frequency, controls and the equipment needed to connect the set. An open generator, acoustic set and containerised package can have different installation and transport costs even when the power rating looks similar.

Condition, age and recorded hours
A low hour reading is useful information, but it does not describe the entire condition of a generator. Compare maintenance history, the operating environment, visible condition and the evidence supporting the recorded hours. An assessment should also establish what preparation is proposed before dispatch.

What is included in the quotation?

- Agreed inspection, servicing, repairs and testing.
- Any warranty and its written conditions.
- Collection or delivery arrangements and unloading responsibility.
- Any separately quoted installation or commissioning work.
Do not assume that two prices cover the same package. A clear breakdown makes it easier to compare the equipment cost with the additional work your project requires.
Delivery and export costs
Transport depends on the generator’s size, weight, collection location and destination. Send a UK delivery postcode or an overseas destination port with your enquiry. Describe access restrictions and whether you have suitable offloading facilities.
