SERVICING / DIAGNOSTICS / PLANNED MAINTENANCE

Generator servicing.
Ready for the next start.

Diesel generator service packages, fault-finding call-outs and maintenance contracts for generator owners. Tell UGT about your equipment, site and operating requirements for a tailored quotation.

LOOK AFTER THE POWER YOU OWN

One visit or an ongoing plan.

01 / ROUTINE CARE

Generator service packages

Arrange a scheduled diesel generator service around the make, model, running hours and service history of your set. Discuss inspection, oil and filter changes, coolant checks and operational checks within an agreed scope.

02 / FAULT FINDING

Generator call-outs & diagnostics

Generator not starting, shutting down or displaying an alarm? Request a fault-finding call-out. Send the controller message and symptoms so the team can assess the enquiry and confirm attendance availability.

03 / LONG-TERM SUPPORT

Generator maintenance contracts

Build a planned maintenance schedule for one generator or multiple sets. Agree service intervals, visit scope, reporting and separately priced work around your site requirements.

STANDBY & PRIME POWER

Maintenance shaped
around your generator.

A backup generator can spend long periods waiting for a mains failure. A prime-power set faces a different pattern of running hours and loading. The maintenance plan should reflect how the equipment is used, its condition and the manufacturer’s service requirements.

UGT welcomes diesel generator servicing enquiries from commercial premises, farms, workshops, facilities teams and industrial sites. Share your postcode and equipment details so we can confirm service availability and the appropriate scope.

Whether you own a Perkins, Cummins, Caterpillar, FG Wilson, Volvo, SDMO, Atlas Copco or another make, include the engine and generator model when requesting a quote. Support and parts availability are confirmed for the specific equipment.

01 /

Identify the equipment

Make, model, kVA rating, engine model, year and recorded hours help define the work and parts required.

02 /

Agree the service scope

Confirm inspection items, consumables, travel, access arrangements and any shutdown needed before booking.

03 /

Plan the next step

Discuss findings, recommended follow-up work and the next scheduled service. Repairs and additional parts should be agreed before work proceeds.

WHEN YOUR GENERATOR NEEDS ATTENTION

Generator fault finding and repair enquiries.

Clear information helps focus a diagnostic visit. Tell us what happened before the fault, whether the generator starts and runs, and whether the problem occurs under load. A photograph of the controller display can be particularly useful.

  • Starting problems: no crank, slow cranking or an engine that cranks without starting.
  • Unexpected shutdowns: repeated alarms, trips or a generator that stops during operation.
  • Output problems: reported loss of output, unstable readings or difficulty supplying the connected load.
  • Control and changeover concerns: automatic-start faults, controller messages or an ATS that does not change over as expected.
  • Visible problems: leaks, unusual smoke, overheating indications or abnormal noise.

Call-out availability, diagnostic charges and likely next steps are confirmed when you contact us. Fault finding establishes what needs attention; replacement parts, repairs and return visits are quoted according to the findings. If your set is stopped on a fault, send the alarm details before repeatedly attempting to restart it.

Need a call-out?

Call +44 0121 5170315 or send the fault details on WhatsApp. Include the site postcode and how urgently support is needed.

What can a generator maintenance package cover?

The quotation defines the checks and work included for your generator. Depending on the equipment and agreed scope, discuss the following:

  • Engine oil and filter replacement, with fuel and air filter requirements assessed for the set.
  • Cooling-system condition, coolant requirements, hoses, belts and visible leaks.
  • Starting battery condition, charging arrangements and electrical connections.
  • Fuel-system condition and accessible fuel-tank checks.
  • Control-panel indications, recorded alarms and agreed operational checks.
  • Separate requirements for load-bank testing, ATS checks or further investigation.

Planned preventative maintenance contracts

A generator maintenance contract gives you an agreed schedule and a clear record of what each visit covers. Tell us whether you need support for a single standby generator, regularly operated equipment or a fleet across several locations.

Visit frequency should follow the manufacturer’s time and running-hour requirements, adjusted for operating conditions. Confirm whether consumables, travel, reports, call-outs and additional testing are included or quoted separately. Do not assume a maintenance contract includes unlimited repairs or emergency attendance.

Generator servicing costs

Service pricing depends on the engine, oil capacity, filters, condition, location and work required. Send a nameplate photograph and the latest service record for a quotation. For a breakdown enquiry, include the fault symptoms so diagnostic attendance can be priced separately from any repair.

Generator servicing questions.

How often should a diesel generator be serviced?

Follow the service intervals specified for your engine and generator, using both elapsed time and running hours. Standby use does not remove the need for scheduled maintenance. Send the model and service history so an appropriate schedule can be discussed.

Can I request servicing for a generator I already own?

Yes. Send UGT the make, model, kVA, hours and site postcode, whether or not you purchased the generator from us. Equipment suitability, parts and attendance availability are confirmed before booking.

Do you offer one-off fault-finding call-outs?

You can request a one-off diagnostic visit without asking for a maintenance contract. Provide the symptoms, alarm codes and location so we can confirm availability and quote the visit.

Can a contract cover several generators?

Ask for a maintenance proposal covering the number of sets and locations you manage. Include each generator’s details and any access or shutdown restrictions so visits can be planned.

Is load-bank testing included in a service?

Only when it is expressly included in the quotation. Routine servicing, diagnostic work, load-bank testing and ATS checks can have different scopes and should be agreed individually.

YOUR GENERATOR / YOUR SERVICE PLAN

Request a service or call-out quote.

Include the make, model, kVA, recorded hours, site postcode and service history. For fault finding, add the alarm message and symptoms; for a contract, tell us how many generators and locations need support.
